A Virtual Festive Cheer!

With social-distancing restrictions still in place, it looks like Christmas parties will be going the same way as most other socialising has this year: virtually. HMRC has confirmed that tax perks for office Christmas parties are being extended to "virtual" ones this year - so employers and staff will get tax breaks for any associated costs of providing the virtual party.

This means food, drinks and entertainment will be covered by the exemption subject to all other conditions being met.

We look forward to discussing with clients as to what the limits to this update are and how employers can best help their employees benefit. This will definitely bring some festive cheer to those lucky enough to benefit from it.
