What we are looking for
We are recruiting a Tax Manager to join our growing team. If you thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy building strong client relationships, and want to work with ambitious and entrepreneurial businesses, this could be the perfect role for you.
You’ll have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients – including owner-managed, private equity-backed, and AIM-listed companies. We’re looking for someone who’s proactive, technically strong, and motivated to help clients succeed.
Your Role
This is a corporate tax role which is predominantly corporation tax compliance and related services. There may be scope to undertake tax advisory work periodically. Our client base at HURST is diverse and is primarily comprised of owner-managed, private equity-backed and AIM-listed businesses.
The successful candidate should be exam qualified (CTA and/ or ACA) and have at least 2 years’ post-qualification experience. The client should have significant corporation tax compliance and tax accounting experience.
The role is based in our Stockport office although hybrid working can be considered.
Technical Expertise
Apply in-depth knowledge of corporation tax to deliver high-quality client service
Take ownership of more complex tax matters, including specialist technical research
Review tax computations and returns prepared by junior staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current legislation
Client and Portfolio Management
Manage a portfolio of clients, including some of our most complex clients, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring timely delivery of tax services
Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to provide additional value through advisory services or opportunities for other teams at HURST
Support the planning and delivery of tax engagements, including budgeting, WIP management and workflow coordination, liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders
Team Leadership and Development
Supervise, mentor, and support junior team members, providing guidance and feedback to aid their development
Contribute to a positive team culture and help foster a collaborative and high-performing environment
Assist in training initiatives and knowledge sharing within the team
Review and Quality Assurance
Review and sign off on work prepared by junior staff, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to internal quality standards
Deliver close to client ready deliverables to the Partner for review
Provide constructive feedback and support continuous improvement in team output
Professional Development
Stay up to date with changes in tax legislation and industry trends
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth
Actively contribute to internal projects and initiatives that enhance service delivery and operational efficiency
Communication and Collaboration
Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues, and external parties
Present complex tax information in a clear and accessible manner
Collaborate effectively across departments to deliver integrated client solutions and be available to give technical support to other departments.
