History & Background

• In 1982 the firm was founded by Malcolm Hurst to serve the needs of an increasingly entrepreneurial South Manchester business community. Its first offices were on Cheadle Hulme high street. The firm later went on to move to Dale House, Stockport.
• In 1995 the firm moved to purpose built offices at Lancashire Gate, Stockport. This office is still our Headquarters today.
• In 1998 the firm joined and became an independent member firm of IGAF Worldwide, an association of independent firms, to help support a growing number of international businesses. In 2011, IGAF Worldwide, Polaris International, and Fidunion merged to form IGAF Polaris, a global association of independent accounting firms. As a result, the association has grown to over 360 firms with a combined total of more than 800 offices in over 85 countries around the globe. In 2011, member firms had a combined total of over 2,200 partners and over 17,000 personnel generating approximately US$2.3 billion in annual revenues.
• In 2005 Tim Potter was appointed Managing Partner and Malcolm Hurst became Chairman.
• In 2007 an office was opened on Deansgate, Manchester, housing HURST Corporate Finance.
• In 2010 Mark Mills, founder of Cardpoint plc, and Chairman of several other businesses became Chairman.
• In 2011 we opened a London office to serve a growing number of clients in the south.
• In 2011 we were announced as finalists in the British Accountancy Awards 2011.
